Marvin E. Muilenberg, Distinguished Service Award

Nomination Form

2024 Recipient

Benjamin AC Fisher, CLU, LUTCF

Ben Fisher started his career in Financial Services with New York Life in 2004.  He is the Founder and Senior Financial Advisor at Prosper Financial Group, the LLC he founded in 2024 while maintaining his 20-year relationship with New York Life.

Ben is an Eagle Scout and received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.  He stays very busy in Grand Rapids with his wife Jennifer and their 4 children.  The family stays involved at church, kids’ activities, occasionally sneaks in a vacation, and loves an outdoor adventure.  Ben serves on his church’s Finance Council and has taught Faith Formation to kids at church for the last 4 years, following his boys’ class up to 4th Grade this year.

Ben has had a passion for the industry ever since he joined it.  He became a NAIFA member in 2006.  He quickly got involved on the local board and served as a local President for NAIFA West Michigan in 20XX.  He then served as the State President for NAIFA Michigan a few years later in 20XX.  Ben will again fill in as President of NAIFA Michigan in 2025.  Through the Political Involvement Leader program at New York Life, Ben represented New York Life in many meetings with legislators over a 7-year period.  Between NAIFA and the New York Life programs, Ben has spent many hours working to educate Congressional leaders both in Washington, D.C. and Lansing about the ways legislation and policies affect our clients and communities.

Besides helping clients prepare for the unexpected, Ben has also developed an awareness of the non-financial realities of grief and loss.  At a Council meeting in 2017, Ben was trained by the New York Life Foundation to deliver a grieving students program to K-12 schools.  The program, developed by the Foundation along with the Coalition to Support Grieving Students, is designed to bring awareness and resources, along with grant money, to teachers and staff.  To date, Ben has delivered this program to over 500 teachers and staff at over 40 different school buildings across Michigan.  Ben also currently serves on the Governing Board for Ele’s Place Michigan while also being the current Chair of the Community Board for the Ele’s Place West Michigan branch.  Ele’s Place is a non-profit in Michigan serving children and teens who have experienced a loss in their family.

Ben has a true passion for helping others and hopes to continue to inspire those around him to do the same.
